Supporting India
All BURKELY bags have been produced in India since 1993, where we maintain close ties. In addition to striving for sustainable materials, we also monitor working conditions. This includes looking at safety, fair wages, and the absence of forced and child labor. We travel to the factories in India several times a year, and we also work with BSCI-certified factories.
BSCI is an initiative from European companies aiming for better working conditions. BSCI stands for Business Social Compliance Initiative and aims to improve and ensure labor conditions.
You can therefore trust that all BURKELY items have been made under fair conditions.
Leather
All products produced for BURKELY are made from high-quality leather sourced from the meat and dairy industry. In this industry, animal hides are not used and are sold as waste to tanneries. Therefore, no animal is slaughtered for your bag.
Leather is a high-quality, natural material that is very durable and – unlike other materials – becomes more beautiful over time. With the right care, you can enjoy it for a lifetime.

Why we do not work with Vegan Leather is a question we often receive. Vegan leather is mostly made of PU (polyurethane). This material has a shorter lifespan, is difficult to break down or recycle, and thereby contributes to the plastic soup. Therefore, in our opinion, Vegan Leather is not better for the world than sustainably produced leather.

From the head office in Tilburg, our enthusiastic team works on the design, development, production, and delivery of collections. BURKELY supplies to sales points domestically and internationally.
Timeless bags and accessories that reflect the fashion trends of today. Our in-house designers create authentic designs with extra attention to functional ease of use. Unique pieces that you can wear and cherish for years.
Each season, we launch an extensive collection including work bags, handbags, wallets, and accessories. Within a collection, you find four lines, each with its own style. In this way, there is something for everyone, and we can respond to different trends.
In addition to our changing seasonal collections, we also have a Fundamental collection. You can see this collection as the basis of BURKELY, containing two lines: Antique Avery and Vintage. These collections showcase classic essentials in a BURKELY twist. A Fundamental bag is suitable for ladies and gentlemen, is handy with the necessary compartments, has a timeless design, and is made of high-quality leather. In other words, a bag suitable for any occasion and lasting for years!
